I dropped the ball, missed the call, lost the connection. Yesterday was Religious Freedom Day, as well as M.L.K.’s birthday. The Department of Education was on hand to remind us that students do not surrender their constitutional rights by entering a school.
In high school, I purposely wore shirts with what might be considered offensive wording on them. Primarily, I wore a shirt reading “Only Users Lose Drugs” beneath a hoodie reading “Smart Ass University.”
I’m 100% for freedom of speech. I do not mean partially censored to protect the innocent, young, elderly, crippled, or soft in the head. I mean absolute freedom of speech. Now, on to religion.
While I’m anti-Judeo/Christian/Islamic, I do support religious freedom. 100%. Read that again. I do not support the aforementioned religions; but I would rather die than suppress their freedom to exist and be practiced.
Don’t be fooled into thinking I hate all people of these faiths. I simply hate the idea that we’re a world caught up in millenia of violence and bloodshed over dead—and possibly imaginary—people.
People are people are people. Get over it.
